Life's problems can overwhelm our sense of stability. Sometimes the feelings that arise from that instability informs our choices and we find ourselves living a life based on reactions instead of living the lives we want. My usual approach for clients is to help them cultivate a grounded and informed sense of who they are and grow their skills for making space for the difficult moments that life inevitably brings us.
My name is Clinton Althaus, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in the state of Washington. I graduated from Emporia State University in Kansas and was raised in Dallas Texas. I began cultivating my ability to be with clients by working as a Licensed Massage Therapist for seven years. That work led me to getting my master's degree in Clinical Psychology where I have found more opportunities to help people to feel at home in themselves and the world they live in. I have found my clients have benefited from the application of mindfulness based stress reduction, cognitive behavior therapy, and related client centered approaches to therapy. I am a neuro-divergent person who has experienced disability and those experiences have informed my ability to understand where clients are coming from.
